CHANGES IN TRAFFIC ORGANISATION AND TEMPORARY NIGHT CLOSURE OF TOLL BOOTHS IN MYSŁOWICE DUE TO THE INTALLATION OF A STEEL STRUCTURE OVER THE ROUTE LEADING TO KATOWICE

28 10 2020 #Press information

On Thursday and Friday, 29 and 30 October of this year, preparatory works related to the assembly of a gantry at the Mysłowice toll station will be carried out on the A4 Katowice-Kraków motorway. Temporary traffic organisation will be introduced at the toll booths, with some of the lanes being closed. A temporary total shutdown of the toll booths on the route towards Katowice is planned to take place on 30 October this year, before 3:00 am.

As part of the temporary traffic organisation, the following lanes will be unavailable since 09:00 pm on 29 October 2020: left access lane leading to the Mysłowice toll station (350 km), as well as 8 lanes towards Katowice at the toll station itself. Drivers will be able to use lanes No 17 and No 18.

Additionally, two internal lanes on the roadway towards Kraków will be shut down as well, i.e lanes No 8 and No 9.

The installation of the gantry will commence on Friday, October 30th, at about 2:40 a.m. During this time, the traffic towards Katowice at the Mysłowice toll station will be completely stopped for a maximum of 30 minutes. Afterwards, drivers will be able to use lanes No 17 and No 18 once again.

Standard traffic organisation will be restored on Friday, October 30th, between 4:00 am and 5:00 am.

Additionally, the Jeleń junction-Byczyna junction section of the Katowice-Kraków A4 motorway is being resurfaced, with two narrowed lanes in both directions available to drivers. Works on the planned installation of a variable-message sign gantry at the Balice toll station are also underway, and as such, the No 9 and No 10 toll booths on the far left side will be closed until about 29 October 2020. During the works, lanes No 8 and No 11 will be reserved exclusively for electronic toll collection.

Detailed information on the dates and location of traffic changes are published on www.ia4.pl, twitter.com/A4KatKra and at the Road Information Points.

Information about SAM SA

Stalexport Autostrada Małopolska S.A. manages the 60-km section of the A4 Katowice-Kraków motorway. This is the first fully operational road of this type in Poland, built as part of the public-private partnership, as a brownfield project  on the basis of the road constructed in the 1970s  and 1980s. Stalexport Autostrada Małopolska S.A. obtained a license for its adaptation to the requirements of the toll motorway and operation in 1997. It required numerous investments. All investment projects and current maintenance of road lanes are funded from revenues obtained from the collection of tolls for the concession section and loans received from the international banking consortium. Unlike other concessions for the management of toll motorways, the project implemented by Stalexport Autostrada S. A. does not burden the State Treasury with any obligations. Moreover, it has not received any grants or guarantees of the Treasury.
