ELETRONIC TOLL COLLECTION ON THE A4 KATOWICE-KRAKOW FROM 20 JULY. PRESALE OF A4Go ONBOARD DEVICES HAS STARTED

7 07 2016 #Press information

Stalexport Autostrada Małopolska is the first Polish consessionaire of toll motorways to launch electronic toll collection, i.e. A4Go. It will enable travelling on the A4 Katowice-Krakow with a 15% discount. From today it is possible to buy onboard devices.

Electronic toll collection is the most modern and quickest way of making payments for using the motorway. Drivers who decide to use A4Go, will not have to use cash or cards on toll plazas in Myslowice and Balice. It will be enough to install the onboard device on the windscreen and it will communicate with the aerial on the motorway gate. After the vehicle has been categorised, the gate will open.

– For a few years we have been implementing a complex programme of increasing toll plaza capacity. Toll plazas have been widened, we have introduced payments with kartA4 proximity cards and fleet cards and on 20th July we are launching the quickest and the most convenient solution – our own electronic toll collection system dedicated for drivers regularly using this stretch. Presale of onboard devices has just started. Using A4Go will be rewarded with a 15% discount for each passage – says Rafał Czechowski, the spokesperson for Stalexport Autostrada Małopolska.

A deposit of 50 PLN is collected on purchasing A4Go onboard devices. Devices with unit packages, i.e. entitlements to use the motorway may be purchased at www.kartA4Go.pl and in Customer Service Points (POK) which are open from 7.00 a.m. to 9.00 p.m. on weekdays. Customer Service Polints are located at the toll plaza in Myslowice straight after the gates in the Krakow direction (ul. Piaskowa 20) and in the Balice toll plaza straight after the gates in the Katowice direction (ul. Krakowska 104).
With A4Go it will be possible to go through all gates on toll plazas.

Detailed information about elctronic toll collection may be found at www.autostrada-a4.pl, on Twitter (@A4KatKra), Facebook (a4katowicekrakow) and at Customer Service Points.

About Stalexport Autostrada Małopolska S.A. (SAM S.A.)

Stalexport Autostrada Małopolska S.A. manages the 60-kilometre long stretch of the A4 motorway between Katowice and Krakow. It is the first fully functional road of this kind in Poland, built within the framework of public-private partnership as a brownfield investment – modernisation of the road built in the 1970s and 1980s. Stalexport Autostrada Małopolska S.A. has held the concession for its adaptation to the requirements of a toll motorway and operation since 1997. Meeting the concession obligations has required numerous investments. All investment projects, including current maintenance of the road, are financed from tolls for using the concession stretch and from loans obtained from an international bank consortium. Unlike other concessions for managing toll motorways, the project run by Stalexport Autostrada Małopolska S.A. does not burden the state budget in any way. The company does not receive the so-called availability payments from the State. The company does not benefit from any State Treasury subsidies or guarantees.
