VIDEOTOLLING - GOOD HOLIDAY DESTINATION - NOW YOU CAN PAY FOR JOURNEYS VIA THE A4 KATOWICE-KRAKÓW MOTORWAY USING THE SKYCASH APPLICATION

1 07 2020 #Press information

Starting from today (Wednesday, 1 July), drivers travelling via the A4 Katowice-Kraków motorway can pay for their journeys using the SkyCash application. This is another automatic payment method that allows you to avoid holiday queues at the gates and save up to 30% on each journey.

The instant payment system based on the identification of the vehicle registration number, the so-called videotolling, has been operating on the A4 Katowice-Kraków motorway since July 2019. The system, that has been so far linked to the Autopay application, has significantly cleared toll plazas, especially during the periods of heavy traffic.

SkyCash is another application available as part of videotolling on the A4 concession section. Until the end of September this year, the users of automatic payment methods, including the recently introduced SkyCash application, can save up to 15-30% per every journey by paying
PLN 7 instead of PLN 10 for category 1 vehicles, PLN 17 instead of PLN 20 for category 2 and 3 vehicles, and PLN 30 instead of PLN 35 for category 4 and 5 vehicles.

You can also use SkayCash to pay for journeys via the A1 motorway.

"Starting videotolling, we met the needs of the users of our motorway, as evidenced by the constant increase in the percentage of drivers choosing the application as the method of payment for journeys. Currently, transactions with the use of videotolling account for over 10 percent of all payments on our A4 section. For those who appreciate the convenience and speed of this solution, at the start of the summer vacation we are expanding the videotolling service with the popular SkyCash application. We hope that this will contribute to the further spread of automatic payment methods, thanks to which passing the toll gates is most efficient", says Rafał Czechowski, press spokesman of SAM SA.

As part of videotolling, the driver registers the vehicle in the application and connects his or her credit or payment card to the user account. The devices installed at the gates recognise the licence plate and open them automatically. Drivers are not involved in the process of paying tolls, which makes their passage much faster. Videotolling on the A4 motorway Katowice-Kraków recognises, apart from the registration numbers of all European Union countries, also Ukrainian plates - the condition, in case of the SkyCash application, is having a Polish telephone number.

When you arrive at the Mysłowice or Balice toll collection plaza, choose the gate marked with a black camera against a yellow background. For the videotolling users there are three gates in each direction: the first two on the left and one on the right. The first gate on the left is only for automatic payments:

SkyCash, Autopay, A4Go and Telepass. In the case of an accidental entry to an unmarked line, you can also pay for the ride using videotolling, reporting such intention to the collector who starts the system, however, it is an option that takes much more time.

At the toll collection plaza, you do not have to be logged in to SkyCash or have your phone on you: the system automatically recognises the licence plate, identifies the vehicle,
and opens the gate. Half of the toll is collected at the entrance gate and the other half at the exit gate.

Drivers of category 1-5 vehicles, except motorcycles, can use the SkyCash application. It can be downloaded for free at Google Play, AppGallery and AppStore.

SkyCash also enables: payments for train and bus tickets, public transport tickets, public and private parking lots, as well as cinema tickets, top-up of gaming, VOD and music services. Financial functions, such as fast transfers between users or cash withdrawals from ATMs, are also available. In the SkyCash application, users will find tickets of up to 9 regional rail carriers and PKP Intercity.
