WEEKEND CLOSURES OF THE A4 KATOWICE-KRAKÓW MOTORWAY

19 06 2020 #Press information

This weekend, June 20 and 21, on the A4 Katowice-Kraków motorway, the dismantling of the heating pipeline between Murckowska and Mysłowice junctions will be carried out. The works will be accompanied by several temporary closures of the roadway in both directions.

This temporary traffic organisation will apply near km 341.2 - 342.5. The contractor plans to close the A4 Katowice-Kraków motorway four times, for no longer than 20 minutes. This will take place between 11 p.m. on Saturday, 20 June, and 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, 21 June. It will be impossible to drive in both directions at this time.

"We will carry out the work as efficiently as possible to reduce the nuisance for drivers. However, it is worth keeping it in mind when planning a trip on our A4 section, e.g. to the airport in Balice, which has just resumed its flights. Please pay attention to changes in road signs before the place where the works are to be carried out," says Rafał Czechowski, the spokesman of SAM S.A.

The works planned depend on weather conditions; thus, the time of their execution may change.

Detailed information on the dates and location of traffic changes are published on www.ia4.pl, twitter.com/A4KatKra and at the Road Information Points.

Information about SAM SA

Stalexport Autostrada Małopolska S.A. manages the 60-km section of the A4 Katowice-Kraków motorway. This is the first fully operational road of this type in Poland, built as part of the public-private partnership, as a brownfield project  on the basis of the road constructed in the 1970s  and 1980s. Stalexport Autostrada Małopolska S.A. obtained a license for its adaptation to the requirements of the toll motorway and operation in 1997. It required numerous investments. All investment projects and current maintenance of road lanes are funded from revenues obtained from the collection of tolls for the concession section and loans received from the international banking consortium. Unlike other concessions for the management of toll motorways, the project implemented by Stalexport Autostrada S. A. does not burden the State Treasury with any obligations. Moreover, it has not received any grants or guarantees of the Treasury.
