FASTER THROUGH THE GATES – STALEXPORT AUTOSTRADA MAŁOPOLSKA S.A. IS LAUNCHING PAYMENTS WITH KartA4 PROXIMITY CARD

4 01 2016 #Press information

Today subscription coupons for using the A4 Katowice-Krakow have been replaced with proximity cards KartA4 which are mostly dedicated to drivers using this stretch of the motorway regularly. It is definitely the quickest and the most convenient payment method proposed by Stalexport Autostrada Małopolska S.A. so far.
Traffic at the A4 Katowice-Krakow is steadily increasing - the gates are crossed by several dozens of vehicles per minute. That is why for a few years the operator of the motorway has been consistently implementing the project of increasing toll plaza capacity. Launching payments with KartA4 was the last stage of this undertaking.

- Over the recent years we have undertaken several activities with the view to increasing the comfort of travelling on the A4 Katowice-Krakow. We extended both toll plazas with additional four lanes and vehicle service points, two in each direction. We replaced toll collection devices, what enabled us to introduce quicker and more convenient payment methods, with the use of bank, fleet as well as fuel cards and eventually the KartA4 proximity card. Additionally, self-service gates appeared on the leftmost lane in each direction, where it is possible to pay with all cards, including KartA4 – says Rafał Czechowski, the spokesperson for Stalexport Autostrada Małopolska S.A.

From today customers can register and buy new cards in the online store www.karta4.pl or in Customer Service Points in Mysłowice and Balice. Entitlements to use the motorway will be recorded on a customer's account in the form of units tied to the card. One unit will make it possible to go through one toll plaza: in Mysłowice or in Balice. It will be possible to buy additional units sold in packages at any time, i.e. to top-up a given card. The account on the website www.karta4.pl will make it possible to top-up a card, to view transactions made so far, to check the number of available units and even to look up dates of passing through certain motorway gates. Drivers will also be able to restrict the card if it is lost or stolen. It will also be possible to order cards with units through a form published on the website www.autostrada-a4.com.pl or to send the order by email to the address of any customer service point. There are four types of cards, one for each vehicle category, with cars as category 1. So far one type of subscription coupon was sold for category 2 and 3 vehicles.

The KartA4 card provides many benefits, both for private users and for companies. First of all - it saves time but also money – a 5% discount is given for the purchase of cards with units for category 1 vehicles. Buying the card or topping it up the driver will receive one VAT invoice, making bookkeeping easier, as they will not have to enter individual receipts in the accounts.-

- Since we launched the possibility of paying with fleet and fuel cards for using the concession stretch of the A4, we are noticing that this payment form is becoming more and more popular. With the KartA4 we are going a step further in responding to the needs and expectations of drivers and we are proposing the most convenient solution in every respect – adds Rafał Czechowski.

Stalexport Autostrada Małopolska S.A. manages the 60-kilometre long stretch of the A4 motorway between Katowice and Krakow. Unlike other concessions for managing toll motorways, the project run by Stalexport Autostrada Małopolska S.A. does not burden the state budget in any way. The company does not receive the so-called availability payments from the State. The company does not benefit from any State Treasury subsidies or guarantees.
