Resurfacing roadworks are being carried out on some sections of the A4 Katowice-Krakow in Malopolskie Voivodeship. Works are ongoing on two stretches of the motorway in the Krakow direction that are two and four kilometres long. For the period of works temporary changes in traffic management have been introduced. Road surface will have been renovated before the end of October.
– The quality of motorway infrastructure is the key issue for the concessionaire because it directly influences driving safety. After 10 years of using the A4 Katowice-Krakow, the surface required renovation in places where works are being carried out – says Rafał Czechowski, spokesperson for Stalexport Autostrada Małopolska S.A.
In connection with the replacement of road surface on some sections of the A4 Katowice-Krakow motorway, the following changes in traffic management have been introduced:
•     from the evening of 8 October till afternoon of 9 October, from 390+400 km to 392+150 km (about 10 km from Balice), on both roadways there will be left-side  narrowing of the road. Traffic will go on one lane on both roadways.
•     from 9 to 18 October, from 390+400 km to 392+150 km, both roadways will be narrowed on the left. Traffic will go on two narrowed lanes.
•     until 10 October, from 372+350 km to 376+250 km (near Chrzanow), both roadways will be narrowed on the left. Traffic will go on two narrowed lanes.
•     from 10 to 12 October (evening hours), from 372+350 km to 376+250 km, both roadways will be narrowed on the left. Traffic will go on one lane on both roadways.
Stalexport Autostrada Małopolska SA updates information about traffic management on its website and on Twitter. All resurfacing works will be carried out in such a way as to minimise the level of disruption to motorway users.

About SAM SA
Stalexport Autostrada Małopolska S.A. manages the 60-kilometre long stretch of the A4 motorway between Katowice and Krakow. It is the first fully functional road of this kind in Poland, built within the framework of public-private partnership as a brownfield investment – modernisation of the road built in the 1970s and 1980s. Stalexport Autostrada Małopolska S.A. has held the concession for its adaptation to the requirements of a toll motorway and operation since 1997. This required numerous investments. All investment projects, including current maintenance of the road, are financed from tolls for using the concession stretch and from loans obtained from an international bank consortium. Unlike other concessions for managing toll motorways, the project run by Stalexport Autostrada Małopolska S.A. does not burden the state budget in any way. The company does not benefit from any State Treasury subsidies or guarantees.
