OPENING THE EXTENDED MYSLOWICE JUNCTION ON THE A4 KATOWICE-KRAKOW

17 11 2016 #Press information

Today, i.e. on Thursday 17 November the Myslowice junction on the A4 Katowice-Krakow was put into operation. After the extension it has become possible for drivers to use the motorway in all directions.

Construction works on the Myslowice junction finished in September. The next stage was obtaining the necessary permits and administrative decisions required for full functionality of the junction.

– Extension of the Myslowice junction is one of the key investments on our section of the A4. Thanks to the modernisation of the junction, drivers can more easily enter the A4 Katowice-Krakow and exit from it in every direction – says Rafał Czechowski, the spokesperson for Stalexport Autostrada Małopolska S.A.

Before the commencement of the construction works the Myslowice junction did not have all exit and entering possibilities - it was possible to exit the A4 motorway from Katowice and Krakow directions to ul. Obrzeżna Zachodnia only to the north – to downtown Myslowice and also to enter the motorway from the centre of Myslowice towards Katowice and Krakow.

As part of the investment a roundabout has been built on the northern part of the motorway, the existing Krakow-Myslowice and Myslowice-Katowice slip roads have been reconstructed and new road sections ensuring connection between the roundabout and slip roads have been built. On the southern side of the motorway an intersection with traffic lights has been built that makes it possible to exit to the existing Katowice-Myslowice slip road towards Myslowice-Brzezinka. Lighting of the whole junction has also been installed – lamp posts are located along the junction itself and along slip roads as well as on ul. Obrzeżna Zachodnia.

Stalexport Autostrada Małopolska S.A. started to extend the Myslowice Junction in 2015. Net value of the investment is PLN 14.4 million.

Unlike other concessions for managing toll motorways, the project run by Stalexport Autostrada Małopolska S.A. does not burden the state budget in any way. The company does not receive the so-called availability payments from the State. The company does not benefit from any State Treasury subsidies or guarantees.
