STALEXPORT AUTOSTRADA MAŁOPOLSKA SA IS LAUNCHING ELETRONIC TOLL COLLECTION ON THE A4 KATOWICE-KRAKOW

18 07 2016 #Press information

– As the first Polish concessionaire of toll motorways, on 20 July we are introducing the A4Go electronic toll collection – the operator of the A4 Katowice-Krakow announced today during a press conference in Katowice. The new way of collecting tolls will also enable passages with Telepass onboard units (OBU), whose functioning on European motorways was presented during the conference by Italian guests. Presale of A4Go OBU carried out for over a week is getting a lot of drivers' attention.

Electronic toll collection is the most modern and quickest way of collecting tolls for using the motorway and in the promotional period also the cheapest, because using the A4Go is rewarded in with a 15% discount for each passage. Drivers who will choose this payment form on toll plazas in Myslowice and Balice will not have to give cash or credit card to the cashier. It will be enough to install the toll collection device on the windshield and it will communicate with the aerial on the motorway gate. After the vehicle has been categorised, the gate will open.

– From the very beginning of functioning of the A4Go electronic toll collection it will be possible to use OBU on all toll gates in Myslowice and Balice. The sale of OBU started on 7 July but so far they have not been very popular among motorway users, so at this point dedicating separate gates to A4Go holders will lead to longer queues to other gates and we want to avoid it – explained Paweł Kocot, Management Board Member, Technical Director of Stalexport Autostrada Małopolska SA.

The A4Go electronic toll collection is compatible with the Telepass system but it is universal enough to enable passages with devices of other manufacturers in the future.

The press conference was also the possibility to sum up the activities carried out so far as part of the programme of increasing toll plaza capacity on the A4 Katowice-Krakow.

– In the years 2012-2015 we invested about 46 million zlotys into increasing toll plaza capacity in Myslowice and Balice. We widened each plaza by four additional lanes and booths. We have replaced toll collection devices. We introduced quick and efficient payment methods – fleet cards, fuel cards and the kartA4 proximity card. The A4Go electronic toll collection is another step towards increasing the comfort of travellers on our motorway - summed up Rafał Czechowski, the spokesperson for Stalexport Autostrada Małopolska.

When purchasing A4Go OBU a deposit of 50 PLN is collected. Devices with unit packages, i.e. entitlements to use the motorway may be purchased at www.kartA4Go.pl and at Customer Service Points (POK) which are open from 7.00 a.m. to 9.00 p.m. on weekdays. Customer Service Points are located at the toll plaza in Myslowice straight after the gates in the Krakow direction (ul. Piaskowa 20) and in the Balice toll plaza straight after the gates in the Katowice direction (ul. Krakowska 104).
With A4Go it will be possible to go through all gates on toll plazas.

Detailed information about electronic toll collection may be found at www.autostrada-a4.pl, on Twitter (@A4KatKra), Facebook (a4katowicekrakow) and at Customer Service Points.
