RUDNO JUNCTION EXTENSION TO BE COMMENCED ON THE A4 KATOWICE-KRAKOW

Stalexport Autostrada Małopolska S.A. is starting the extension of the Rudno Junction which is located in the Malopolska part of the A4 Katowice-Krakow. Thanks to the investment of PLN 7.7 million (excl. tax), until the end of first quarter of 2017 the A4 motorway will become connected with national roads no. 79 and 44 and the voivodeship road no. 780 through the existing poviat roads. Works on the extension will start on 26 August.

The Rudno junction currently makes it possible to exit the A4 in the direction of Katowice to the poviat road Krzeszowice-Alwernia and to enter the motorway in the Krakow direction from the Krzeszowice-Alwernia road. Thanks to the investment, this junction in the northern part of the motorway will get new connecting roads and a roundabout, that will make it possible to exit the motorway from the direction of Krakow to the road to Krzeszowice or Alwernia and to enter the A4 from the road from Alwernia or Krzeszowice.

– For the communes of Alwernia, Krzeszowice and Spytkowice and the krakowski and chrzanowski poviats the extension of the Rudno Junction is the key road investment from the point of view of economic development of these areas. It will be easier and more convenient for entrepreneurs and residents to enter the A4 and to exit it to reach the communes. Successful cooperation with local authorities and the Malopolska Voivod enabled us to start this investment a few years ahead of schedule – says Rafał Czechowski, the spokesperson for Stalexport Autostrada Małopolska S.A.

Temporary changes in traffic organisation will be introduced for the time of construction works. From 26 August till the end of October the left (fast) lane will be cut off near the Rudno Junction (382 + 359 km) on the roadway to Katowice on the section of about 1.3 km. Traffic will continue on two narrowed lanes (the right lane and the emergency lane) with the speed limit of 80 km/h.

Until 26 August preparatory works will be carried out around the Rudno Junction, on the roadway to Katowice, i.e. the necessary signs informing about changes in traffic organisation will be installed. Temporary narrowing to one lane with the speed limit of 80 km/h can be expected.
