STALEXPORT AUTOSTRADA MAŁOPOLSKA S.A. DEVELOPING CASHLESS PAYMENTS_UTA FUEL CARDS NOW ACCEPTED ON THE A4 KATOWICE-KRAKOW

11 05 2015 #Press information

Stalexport Autostrada Małopolska S.A. (SAM S.A.) is increasing the range of fleet and fuel cards that may be used to pay for passage at the A4 Katowice-Krakow. From 9.30 a.m. today, drivers using the concession stretch of the A4 and passing through the Toll Plazas in Mysłowice and Balice will be able to pay with UTA fleet cards. UTA is another operator, besides PKN Orlen and Routex, whose cards will be accepted at toll booths and filling stations.

UTA cards are accepted in Poland on all filling stations of Shell, Statoil, BP, Lukoil, Lotos, Moya, Optima, Orlen, Bliska and Arge. UTA cards may also be used to pay for viaBox devices and at toll booths using the viaToll system, e.g. on the A4 Gliwice - Wrocław.

From the beginning of February, Orlen (Flota and Open Drive) and Routex fleet and fuel cards have been accepted on Toll Plazas (in Mysłowice and Balice). Orlen cards may also be used to pay for fuel and services on Orlen filling stations that are located on Rest Areas along the concession stretch of the A4 and on Bliska filling stations. Routex cards are accepted on Aral, BP, Omv, Eni and Statoil filling stations.

– Fleet and fuel cards are more and more popular on the concession stretch of the A4. Within just over three moths from their introduction we have observed about 150 per cent increase in such transactions. Adding another operator to the range of accepted fuel and fleet cards may encourage other drivers to use this payment method. Particularly because it is more convenient than the traditional way of payment for using the motorway – says Rafał Czechowski, the spokesperson for Stalexport Autostrada Małopolska S.A.

The possibility to pay with fleet and fuel cards is the result of the replacement of toll collection devices that was part of the comprehensive programme of increasing Toll Plaza capacity carried out by SAM S.A. Another improvement for drivers, which is the result of this investment, will be the electronic cashless payment method with the KartA4 proximity card replacing the subscription coupons functioning so far. It will be particularly dedicated for drivers regularly travelling on the concession stretch of the A4.

About SAM S.A.

Stalexport Autostrada Małopolska S.A. manages the 60-kilometre long stretch of the A4 motorway between Katowice and Krakow. It is the first fully functional road of this kind in Poland, built within the framework of public-private partnership as a brownfield investment – modernisation of the road built in the 1970s and 1980s. Stalexport Autostrada Małopolska S.A. has held the concession for its adaptation to the requirements of a toll motorway and operation since 1997. Meeting the concession obligations has required numerous investments. All investment projects, including current maintenance of the road, are financed from tolls for using the concession stretch and from loans obtained from an international bank consortium. Unlike other concessions for managing toll motorways, the project run by Stalexport Autostrada Małopolska S.A. does not burden the state budget in any way. The company does not receive the so-called availability payments from the State. The company does not benefit from any State Treasury subsidies or guarantees.
